Corporate ‘raiding’ to come under tougher special organ scrutiny

Business Enemy

The government plans to declare a severe war against corporate raiding, which has become one of the key problems hamstringing normal business development in the country as it promotes illegal seizures/acquisitions of companies from legal owners, a top law-enforcement agent said.

“Raiding has become a national problem, therefore, it is necessary to create a special federal agency to fight it,” Alexander Bastrykin, the director of the Investigations Committee of the Prosecutor General’s Office, added.

“This could be a special anti-crisis organ that will include heads of government agencies, leaders of business associations and public organizations. Specifically, this organ will help coordinate all the actions directed at counteractions of illegal acquisitions and seizures of companies from their lawful owners.”

Besides, Bastrykin also called for criminal liabilities for officials, who register such deals, and also private individuals that take parts in such illegal transactions.
