A day in court for Arbat Prestige principal shareholder and CEO

The Prosecutor General’s Office has sent the criminal case against Vladimir Nekrasov, the ex-owner and former CEO of Arbat & Co., which owns the Arbat Prestige network of perfumery shops in Russia, to the Moscow’s Tushinsky district court. The businessman faced charges of evasion of taxes in exceptionally large proportions, while Sergei Schneider, his business partner and consultant of Evergate company, of complicity in committing those crimes.

According to the investigators, Nekrasov and Schneider colluded to evade the payment of taxes totaling over Rub115mln in 2005-06. “The criminal case has been sent to the court for deliberation and ruling,” an official statement, signed by Vladimir Malinovsky, the deputy State Prosecutor General Vladimir Malinovsky, said.

The Moscow branch of the Public Prosecutor’s Office will lead the prosecution of the case. The ongoing legal problems of Arbat & Co., and its eponymous perfumery network, began after the arrests of the company’s owner and his business partner in January 2008.
