The number of modern quality hotels in Russia to increase by 250 assets in 2009

A total of about 250 new hotels will be built in 2009, despite all the current crisis phenomena in the economy, Federal Tourism Agency Director Anatoly Yarochkin said. This number will, however, be significantly less than the 430 new facilities offering 40,000 rooms that were delivered in 2008.

Yarochkin called the creation of a network of ‘roadside hospitality services’ essential in the development of the local hotel industry. “In this context, we need to develop modern roadside hotel complexes equipped with ‘green parking zones’ for auto-tourists and also offer more additional services in regions that are the final destinations on major tourist routes in the country.”
