Burevestnik Group managing partner detained on yachts contraband charges

The detention of Andrei Lomakin — the managing partner of the Burevestnik Group holding that acts as the local representatives of global yacht brands in Russia and other CIS countries, and who also doubles as the Aston Martin Moscow CEO — and, his business partners, was based on the criminal case opened against them on September 1 by the Moscow Transport Department of Investigations Committee (IC).

According to Federal Customs Service (FTS), the ‘criminal group,’ comprising founders and employees of AG Marin and the Burevestnik yachts club, as well as FTS’ former and present employees, had conspired to illegally import super expensive yachts with forged documents into Russia from 2007 to its detention in September. In all, a total of eight suspects were detained.

Meanwhile, the management of the Burevestnik Group has called Lomakin’s detention a misunderstanding that will be resolved soon. “By nature of our activities, the possibility of undertaking ventures that could be classified as contraband is nil,” the company. However, the court turned down their request, as it granted the FTS’ petition to hold the suspects without bails.
