District administration’s rent claims could paralyze a mini-hotel’s operations

Lease Issue

Oleg Mitvol, the head of the Moscow’s Northern Administrative District (NAD), has petitioned the Prosecutor’s Office to inspect the activities of Mikhalkovo Company, which has rented four buildings and an area on the territory of one of the famous estates in the northern part of the capital, the NAD press department said.

The petition stemmed from alleged illegal acquisition of additional territory of the estate by the lessee, who has fenced off the plot for parking facility. The district head claimed that such actions are tantamount to infringement of the law regulating renting of government’s properties, and thus constitute legal grounds for pre-term annulment of the lease contract, according to the existing agreement, will expire only in 2020.

The main problem for the tenant, however, is the fact that one of the buildings houses his Usadba Mini-Hotel, which could possibly lose its rent agreement in the worst-case scenario.
