Russian president discusses global economy with World Bank president

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and World Bank (WB) President Robert Zoellik discussed at a February Kremlin meeting global economic issues such as the distribution of quotas between the developed and developing countries in the IMF and WB and possible expansion of Russian participation in WB’s projects. “We have been meeting on a regular basis at various international platforms and discussing the situations in the global economy.

If we speak about today’s situation, I can say that we feel a bit better now than a year ago,” Medvedev noted. “Of course, not all the problems have been solved, as we still need to reform the international architecture of global financial organizations.” From his part, Zoellik said he highly values the role of Russia and cooperation between it and WB in stabilizing the global economy. “As you know, I’m in Moscow to participate in a conference dedicated to ‘New Partnership in Financing Global Growth’ organized by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Kudrin.”
