No to Protectionism 

Addressing a Russian Security Council meeting dedicated to measures for protecting the country’s national security, President Medvedev ordered the government to draw up mechanisms for reacting to cases of restricting Russian exports on the global markets. “There are such restrictive measures, the so-called hydrocarbon protectionism, in developed countries. Such policies could limit Russia’s possibilities for exporting several types of goods and services on the international markets,” he added. “Therefore, we need to weigh, discuss and draw up a scheme that will be capable of maintaining the competitiveness of our economy across major export positions.”
