Russia and Jordan to further strengthen their highly productive bilateral cooperation

Receiving Abdullah II, the King of Jordan in Moscow last month, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin noted the special nature of the bilateral relations between Moscow and Amman. “I need to note that we also perceive you as one of our closest friends in the Middle East, and are very glad to have the opportunity to discuss our bilateral cooperation, including in the spheres of trade and economic ties and also the problems evolving in the region.”

In his reply speech, the monarch expressed hope that his March meeting with the Russian leadership will further strengthen the relations between the two countries, noting that “Jordan highly appreciates the special character of the relations between our countries.” The king also specifically noted Russia’s role in the Middle East, including the search for peaceful resolutions to conflicts in the region, and specifically, how to overcome the impasse in the Israel-Palestine relations.”
