President Medvedev has called rampant truancy among legislators in the State Duma and Federation Council unacceptable. “As the guarantor of the Constitution, I must note that I don’t like the picture from the State Duma sessions, where only 10-15% of the chamber members are present. The situation is a bit better in the Federation Council, but truancy is also rampant there,” he added. “This is a question of discipline and quality of adopted legislations. The legislators need to attend meetings, but those who want to play truancy, should go and do that somewhere.”
