Tatneft’s department for Oil and Gas Production Management (OGPM) has completely terminated dumping its crude industrial sewage in the Ik River, the 571km-long tributary of the Kama River, which runs through Bashkortostan and Tatarstan’s territories. This was the result of a special program directed at minimizing the effect of Tatneft’s facilities on the environment. The construction of a system for recycling industrial wastes from Tumutusk water-purifying facilities, where technological liquids intended for maintaining the oil strata pressure in the company’s OGPMs has been completed and is now functioning. In all, 34.8mln rubles were invested into the construction of the project, which was launched in 2007, including 11.5mln rubles in 2009. Now, the industrial wastes formed from washing of filters undergo purification via sedimentation in the system, and then come back for recycling.
The settled sediment is dehydrated through belt press filters and then evacuated to waste disposal areas. Besides, Tatneft has developed and installed an advanced monitoring system for operative quality control of both superficial and underground waters on its business activities’ territories. Currently, this hydromonitoring system has over 1,220 areas under survey. As a result of realization of water facilities protection measures, the level of chlorides in major rivers has been kept within the permissible concentration limits. The quality of major rivers in terms of oil and oil products levels in dissolved and emulsified conditions absolutely conforms with the requirements laid down for fishery facilities and is considerably below the permissible concentration limits.
