Government activates measures to counteract rampant corruption in Russia

Anticorruption Strategy

Kremlin has announced new measures, including a plan to create a special council to be chaired by the president, to activate the government’s ongoing war against corruption in all its manifestations in the country.

Speaking on the issue, President Medvedev noted that the plan will focus on modernization of anticorruption legislation, counteraction of corruption in the economic and social spheres and promotion of anticorruption behavior in Russia. “Corruption has become a systemic problem that putrefies business environment and reduces the state’s effectiveness and capacities. Therefore, we need comprehensive measures to counteract it.”
