Espionage Scandal 

Commenting the ongoing espionage scandal, Foreign Affairs Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow is expecting explanations from Washington in connection with the detention of Russians on espionage charges. The U.S. Justice Ministry had indicted the arrestees for espionage activities, but without concretizing the nature of information transferred and damage. “Nobody has explained anything to us, and we hope they do. The only thing that I can say is that the timing was chosen with special elegance,” the minister noted, hinting at the possibility of certain forces wanting to disrupt the thaw in U.S.-Russian relations.
