Toast to President

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev turned 45 on Sept. 14. However, there were no major public actions planned for the day, as the president preferred to spend mark the occasion in a family circle in Sochi.

The president was congratulated by colleagues and heads of governments of foreign states, some of whom presented him with unique gifts, while others used the occasion update progresses on bilateral relations.

For example, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich presented Medvedev with a model of the Victory Car, while German Chancellor Angel Merkel in a telephone conversation did not only express warm congratulatory words, but noted ‘high intensity and productivity of the intergovernmental dialog.
