Alexander Khloponin, the deputy prime minister and Russian presidential envoy to the North Caucasian Federal District, has disclosed the cost of projects aimed at normalization of the restive situation in the North Caucasus region. “The estimated cost, in addition with private investments, is about 600bln rubles and realization of these projects is expected to begin soon. For example, the creation of a tourist infrastructure complex will require about 60bln rubles.”
Khloponin also announced that the plan to grant special state guarantees to investors for executing projects in the region is in the final stage. For example, about 60bln rubles will be allotted for this purpose in 2011. Overall, the long-term strategy for the development of the Northern Caucasus envisages that by 2025 the regional GDP will reach 7.7%, regional budgets to double, while the average salary will rise to 23,000 rubles.
