The Federal Protection Service (FPS) has withdrawn the applications for the registrations of nine domain names in the .rf zone that are connected with Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, which can be seen as pre-election campaign programs, the agency’s press department said. According to official data, the agency has registered over 400 domain names, including such sites as ‘Putin2012.rf’, ‘Premier2012.rf’, ‘PrimeMinister-2012.rf, ‘Moscow-Putin-2012.rf’, etc. “The FPS is responsible for the official registration of domains for public authorities, including the Presidential Administration, the Russian government, federal ministries, State Duma, Federation Council and other state institutions, but does not participate in preparation and execution of election campaigns,” the agency said.
