Clarification of Positions

Addressing the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federation Council in September, Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Sergei Lavrov called on Russia’s Western partners to finally clarify their positions on the Georgian regime. “For goodness’ sake, I must say that people in the West are beginning to get concerned over whether or not the Saakashvili regime really meets the generally accepted democratic standards. “After all, democratic states do not start aggressive wars, and here, our Western partners need to choose either to side with those, who have killed Russian citizens or to stop offering them unconditional support.”
