Antitrust Agency leadership concedes presence of corrupt officials among its staff

Shocking Revelations

Speaking in an interview to the Russia 24 TV channel in February, Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) Director Igor Artemyev acknowledged the presence of corruption in his agency, estimating the share of corrupted employees at about 7% of the agency’s total workforce.

Artemyev says FAS is a large organization combining approval and punitive functions when approving deals and decisions on issues of antimonopoly regulation. This is why it is impossible to completely exclude cases of corruption. “In a way, one can there is corruption in FAS. There is no use trying to hide it.”
