A private Russian company to begin the construction of a space hotel in 2013

Orbital Technologies, a private Russian company, has declared its readiness to begin the construction of the world’s first-ever space hotel for tourists by 2013.

According to the company’s CEO Sergei Kostenko, active works on designing the facility and marketing have already started, while several contracts with ‘aspiring space tourists’ have been signed.

The hotel facility, capable of accommodating seven tourists and equipped with all the necessary gadgets, will feature four comfortable cabins with gigantic illumination windows. “This hotel can also be used in case of emergencies as a reserved base for the evacuation of the ISS crews, and also a ‘transit platform’ for tourists en-route to the Moon.”
