Sergei Katyrin, the president of Russia’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), elected to the post in March, believes that that the negative media hype around the Yukos case has sharply worsened Russia’s investment climate, saying that the RCCI under his management will work actively to help rectify the negative situation.
“The commotion around this case, in terms of investment attractiveness, has not done best service to our image abroad. Most of this hype is not based on acquaintance with the materials of the case, but on emotions, something that RCCI does not intend to do,” he said at his first press conference. “The RCCI has already taken steps to correct this situation via the creation of a positive image for Russia abroad.”
