Speaking at a meeting of the Russian-Brazilian Commission on Cooperation in May, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin noted that the volume of bilateral trade that grew at 28% year-on-year in 2010 is a good indication of the excellent state of the bilateral cooperation between Russia and Brazil. Equally deserving attention, according to Putin, is the productive cooperation in international organizations, such as the UN and the BRICS, between Moscow and Brasilia. “Brazil is one of our key strategic partners not only in Latin America, but in the whole world. Therefore, our dialog always takes place in a traditionally friendly atmosphere.”
In his response, Brazilian Vice President Michel Temer called the outcomes of his talks with Putin fruitful. “We are pleased to hear this positive assessment of the cooperation between our countries.” Temer further noted that the two countries are focused on increasing their annual bilateral trade volume to $10bln. “The documents that will be signed in the course of our meeting should help further accelerate the growth rate of our bilateral cooperation.”
