Sergei Mironov, forced to vacate his post as the chairman of the Federation Council (FC), has lost the privileges attached to this office. “Specifically, these included an official car fitted with a siren, residence and other privileges enjoyed by him as the third highest political figure in the Russian power hierarchy in accordance with the relevant Presidential Decree,” Viktor Khrekov, the spokesman for presidential property management department, said.
Mironov’s drastic ‘fall from grace to grass’ started in May, when St. Petersburg deputies recalled him from the FC, which automatically led to the loss of his senatorial mandate, and consequently, his position of the FC speaker, which had made him Russia’s third high-ranking statesman. However, it seems the ‘degraded politician’ is not upset by change in fortune, saying that “the loss of his previous privileges will not affect his health or life conditions.”
