Russian largest airline Aeroflot was awarded the international prize SkyTrax World Airline Awards in the “Best Airline in Eastern Europe in 2011” category at the annual World Airline Awards ceremony organized as a part of the Paris Air Show Le Bourget. Kazakh Air Astana and Hungarian Malev Hungarian Airlines came second and third in this category. Besides, Aeroflot was also named among the top three fastest growing airlines in the world.
Meanwhile, the best airline in the world in 2011 was declared Qatar Airways, while Turkish Airlines was voted best in Europe, pushing Swiss International Air Lines and Germany’s Lufthansa to the second and third places. British Airways was ranked first in the “Best Lounge for business class passengers” category.
