Moscow and Russia as a whole on the threshold of the dawn of a ‘floating hotels’ boom

Hotels on Water

According to official data, Moscow in the near future will be a home to ‘floating hotels’ with over 5,000 rooms. Konstantin Timofeev, the head of the city’s Investment Projects Executions Committee, said the facilities can be built on old barges and ships anchored along the Moscow River embankments.

“These facilities can easily be connected to the city’s urban communication networks. Currently, over 50 ‘floating hotels’ are in the pipelines, the first of which could appear this year.”

Today, it seems this trend is not limited only to Moscow, because, according to experts, Russia will have about 150 ‘hotels on water’ by 2015.
