The symbols of the December State Duma election will be a computer tick and wooden bird of happiness, Vladimir Churov, the head of the Russian Central Electoral Commission (CEC), said at a meeting of the agency’s representatives with the Russian President. “We propose to make the computer tick, the symbol used when working with Internet, and bird of happiness.” This choice of an election mascot seems to go well with the president, who called the combination of ‘innovation with tradition’ a strong move. Later, Churov confirmed the CEC’s readiness to conduct the most ambitious elections in Russian history, as Russians will elect almost 50,000 legislators to the State Duma and regional legislatures.
