Moscow is ‘perplexed’ by the U.S. refusal to grant a visa to famous Russian singer and State Duma legislator Iosif Kobzon, Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said. "This action has led to the cancellations of his events planned to mark the Victory Day in the United States, where fans, including WWII veterans living the US, were waiting for him." Lukashevich said that the Russia has repeatedly raised the issue before Washington the unacceptability of a situation, where a visa has for unknown reasons been regularly denied to a Russian public figure. "We believe that the visa discrimination against Kobzon and several other Russian citizens is contrary to the development of contacts between people and also does not rhyme with the positive orientation of improving Russian-U.S. relations in recent years."
