Full Membership Aspiration 

Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin, who headed the Russian delegation to the G8 Finance Ministers Summit in Rome in February, said Russia hopes for a full membership role in the economic affairs of this elitist club. In its present status, Russia does not take participate in all the group’s financial matters, and hence the use of the old name G7 or G7/G8 in some cases. “Italian Prime Minister Berlusconi has said that Italy as the G8 president believes that Russia needs to be fully integrated in the financial aspect of G8,” he said. “I think this will happen this year.” (see The Summit results in the next edition).
