Patriarch Kirill has called for placing remunerations in strict dependence on people’s real contributions or achievements, saying the current crisis only underscores the urgent need for the adoption of such principle. “It is in this crisis time that people need to ask themselves whether their salaries are really commensurate to their actual performances,” he noted.
“At times, people’s remunerations far surpass their contributions, and sometimes, such contributions are virtual, mainly by words rather than deeds. Does this not fuel crisis phenomenon,” he asked rhetorically. “This is why this economic crisis should incite people to make appropriate moral and religious conclusions. It is particularly important for us to exit this crisis wiser, from the point of view of reassessment of our contributions to our society.”
