Korston GM appointed AEB Hotels & Tourism WG Deputy Chairman

New Responsibilities

Louie Beck — the vice president for hotel operations and general manager of Korston Hotel & Casino Moscow —has added new sphere and responsibilities to his heavily loaded duty roster in the Russian hospitality industry, following his appointment as the deputy chairman of the powerful the Association of European Businesses (AEB) Hotels and Tourism Working Group, whose creation was approved by the Moscow Government in 2007. The first meeting of the Working Group was held in Kempinski Hotel on Feb. 10, 2009, while more meetings have been slated for the future. In his new capacity, Beck will join other leading hospitality experts in the Working Group tasked with transforming Russia into a tourists’ favorite default destination in Europe.

Also, Korston Hotel & Casino Moscow has been designated as a venue for the Working Group meetings. “My personal view is that we need to share information and experiences with other hotels in Moscow to be successful in the city’s hospitality industry," Beck noted. “I think this is a great idea, which can help a lot to boost the business and tourism industry in Moscow,” he added. “To achieve these objectives, we need to improve communications among representatives of different segments of the hospitality businesses and tourism, promote tourist services and other hospitality activities through trainings, organisation of various promotion programs, etc.”

Beck specifically noted that the Working Group’s strategic goal is to make Russia in general, and Moscow, in particular, highly attractive for both business executives and mainstream tourists. “I believe our experiences in Russia will enable us to learn, anticipate and satisfy tourists’ needs, and this will surely help make Moscow one of the best places to visit in Europe,” he added. “To achieve this goal, we need to have better understanding of hospitality, the industry standards as well as the existing regulations and rules in Russia.”
