Mikhail Kusnirovich, the famous Russian businessman and owner of company Bosco di Ciliegi, was awarded Italy’s esteemed Leonardo for what the award donor, the Italian Quality Committee (IQC), has called the recipient’s significant contributions to strengthening and promotion of the image of Italy in the world. The award was personally presented by Italian Economic Development Minister Claudio Scajola at an official reception in the Moscow’s GUM premises.
The Leonardo Award, the Italian analog of the Russian Businessperson of the Year, is presented annually on the recommendations by a high-profile jury to an Italian or foreigner, whom the jury believes has most significantly contributed to the promotion of the ‘Made in Italy’ brand and the country’s overall image in the world.
In the official citation to the Leonardo 2009 Award, the IQC noted that Kusnirovich was more than just a successful Russian business executive. “It would be entirely one-sided to view Kusnirovich exclusively from the point of view of a successful businessman, because, he is, first and foremost, an outstanding figure in Russian culture, a patron of art and a real connoisseur, cultivates beauty in all its diversified manifestations, while being invariably guided by the highest quality.”
In his reply speech, Kusnirovich thanked the Italians for bestowed honor, and used the moment to express condolences to the victims of the recent earthquake in Italy. “There is a proverb in Russia that says real friends are known in times of difficulties. “We all grieve with all of you over the events that occurred in your country.”
