Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and his Guatemalan counterpart, Alvaro Colom, discussed ways for the further deepening of relations not only between Moscow and Guatemala City, but also with the rest of Latin American countries. “The intensification of the Russian-Guatemalan relations only started in this decade, but they are still far from the potentials of our economies. Therefore, we need to think about ways of boosting our existing cooperation with new projects.”
The president also expressed his gratitude to Guatemala for its warm reception of the Russian delegation to the 2007 IOC meeting, where Sochi won the right to host the 2014 Olympics. In his turn, Colom called his historic March visit to Moscow ‘the beginning of a new stage in the development of relations not only between Russia and Guatemala, but also with Latin American states. “I actively support the intensification of cooperation not only between Russia and Guatemala, but also with the whole of Latin America.”
