Authorities give green light to immortalization of Gaidar’s memory in Russian history

Honoring a Legend

Kremlin has signed a decree on the immortalization of Yegor Gaidar, the famous economist, politician and statesman, one of the key market reforms ideologists in the early 1990s, who died in 2009. Specifically, the decree authorized the government to set up and name 10 monthly stipends of 1,500 rubles each after Gaidar, which will be granted to the best economics students at state and officially accredited private universities. Besides, Moscow City Hall has been asked to place a memorial board on the building of the Transitional Economy Institute that was headed by Gaidar before his death and also name one of the public schools after him.
