Representatives of RSPP, Russia’s most influential business organization, during a meeting with the prime minister in May, offered ways for improving the situation in the economy, including imposing a moratorium on tax changes over the next five years as a part of the current tax system reform. Other items on the agenda included privatization of state assets and creation of a special advice at the government level to oversee comprehensive reformation of the pension, medical and social and welfare insurance systems. “Such a council should be constituted from government officials, business and trade unions representatives to study and offer opinions on how hest to execute these reforms,” Alexander Shokhin, the RSPP chief, noted. “The RSPP is not challenging already adopted decisions, but it simply wants to be involved in their discussion and realization.”
