Kremlin contemplating idea of transferring officials’ assets into trust management

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has expressed readiness to look into the possibility of transferring state officials’ business assets, which they owned prior to joining civil service, into trust management, though he is not sure of its effectiveness. “With regard to idea to transfer assets of officials into trust management, I need to admit that this institution is not the most effective in the country,” he said. “But we can try to change the legislation to enable us create state firms to manage these officials’ assets on their behalf. We can give it a try. I’m not against it.”
