The company, which arrived in Russia in 1994 as the first foreign pioneer in the local logistics industry, has since become the trendsetter on the local market, being the first to build a modern international quality standard Class A logistics facility in the country in 1998, Hugues Laurent, the company’s business development director, said. “Today, we have a gross stock of both own and rented warehouses of about 330,000sqm in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other Russia’s major cities such as Vladivostok, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Khabarovsk, Irkutsk and Rostov-on-Don as well as a workforce of almost 3,000 employees.”
Today, the company’s services portfolio in Russia, like in all other countries of its operations, includes world-quality warehousing, domestic and international transport, packing, co-packing, customs clearance and cargo pooling services.
“Russia is an important market with a huge business potential for FM Logistic, and we have plans to develop more warehousing projects in the country in 2011-12.” All these features have enabled the company to maintain its leading positions on the market, providing top-level quality services to leading local and international clients, which include the most famous household brand names in their respective industries such as P&G, Carrefour, Unilever, Nestle, HP, Channel, Dior, Sharp, Bosch, Siemens, etc.
Though Michele Cohonner, FM Logistic general manager for Eastern Europe, did not disclose the company’s total sum of capital so far invested in Russia, she, however, did give a hint of the company’s financial commitment to the country, putting the cost of developing the Sidorovo warehousing facility alone at about 150mln euros. “Russia is an important market with a huge business potential for FM Logistic, and we have plans to develop more warehousing projects in the country in 2011-12.”
