MOSCOW, Russia — Ex-Yukos founder and owner Mikhail Khodorkovsky and his key business partner and ally ex-Menatep CEO Platon Lebedev have filed petitions for parole at a Moscow court, as they had served over half of their designated terms, Anna Usachyova, the spokesperson for the Moscow City Court, said.
Though the Russian legal procedure for applying for a parole does not require the applicant to recognize guilt, Khodorkovsky, however, deemed it absolutely necessary in his petition, to reiterate his complete innocence.
“I don’t accept the guilty verdict conviction, which I have challenged in the ECHR and Russian Supreme Courts. Also, I shall pay the fine, the validity of which is also being challenged, according to the opportunities afforded me in my place of imprisonment.”
