Russia to make a final decision on fate of the grain export embargo by end of May

Wheat Embargo Fate

Speaking on the Russian grains export policy, First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov noted that the government, acting on the results of monitoring its grain reserves, will make a decision to revoke or extend the current wheat export embargo, which will expire on July 1. Kremlin introduced the embargo after last year’s devastating summer fires, and is scheduled to run till June 30, 2011, with the option of its extension till the yearend. “By the end of May the grain situation will be become clearer, but it is too premature today to say unequivocally that we shall lift the embargo.”
