Russia and Sweden outline key spheres for further deepening of bilateral cooperation

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and his Swedish counterpart, Frederik Reinfeldt, during an April meeting devoted to boosting bilateral cooperation, focused their talks on economic cooperation, ecology, and modernization of Russia. According to the official data, bilateral trade has surged by almost 600% in the last decade, a trend that now makes Sweden one of the 10 largest and direct investors in Russia.

The premiers also signed a Declaration on Modernization Partnership, a symbolic moment for Stockholm, as it was under its EU Presidency that a similar document was penned between Brussels and Moscow. “We had very constructive dialogs on all issues of much interest, and I hope that the new agreements signed today and our new spheres of cooperation will lead to further deepening of our bilateral relations.”
