CC upholds the constitutionality of WTO Accord and its compliance to local laws

The WTO Constitutionality

The Constitutional Court (CC) has verified the legality of Russia's WTO Accession Protocol. Specifically, CC ruled that it does not violate Russians’ rights and freedoms nor threatens the country’s sovereignty.

Thus, the court rejected the claim filed by the Communist and Just Russia Parties that had petitioned the court to declare the protocol unconstitutional. Besides, CC also noted that the WTO accession will give Russia access to the international legal framework and means of international legal protection in the field of cross-border trade and investments.
